About St. Damien Pediatric Hospital and NPH USA

Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), founded by American priest Father William Wasson in 1954, opened their Haiti programs (as Nos Petits Frères et Soeurs – NPFS, “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”) in 1987. While the initial goal was to build a permanent home for orphaned and abandoned children, the large number of children dying from treatable illnesses showed a desperate need for a hospital that could treat chronic and other debilitating illnesses. As a result, NPFS founded St. Damien Pediatric Hospital in 1989. Today, St. Damien is the nation’s premier children’s facility.

Supported through NPH USA’s St. Damien Pediatric Hospital Fund and private contributions to NPH worldwide, the hospital and its associated public health programs reach thousands of children each year.

Donations to NPH USA, Federal Tax I.D. # 65-1229309, are tax deductible to the extent provided by U.S. law.
